Let's face it, most of us have to work. We don't have unlimited funds or unlimited time off. Sometimes you just can't spend as much time as you would like in a destination, but here's some tips for making the most of out of a short visit. 1 - Stay near the attractions you want to visit Often you can save money by staying in accommodations outside city center or where major tourist attractions are. But when you have a short time in a destination, it may be worth the additional cost to stay in a more central location. This allows you to see more of your destination and spend less time in transit getting to attractions. 2 - Make a plan
When you have plenty of time in a destination, you can spend more of that time leisurely exploring. If you only have a few days, it's a great idea to make a list of what your must see items and make a plan for when to visit them. 3 - Skip the lines Many major attractions have an option that allows you to pre-book your tickets online, allowing you to skip some or all of the lines when you arrive. There may be a surcharge for this option, but not standing in line with hundreds or thousands of other tourists has some major appeal.
4 - Don't forget to eat
With limited time, it's tempting to subsist on grab-and-go eats so you can pack in more sight-seeing, but a major part of visiting a destination is trying its cuisine. Be sure to take a break to relax and enjoy a great meal. If there's a restaurant you simply must try, consider making a reservation in advance.
5 - Be realistic Day two becomes a lot less fun when you spent 16 hours walking on day one, after having flown through the night without sleeping. As a traveler, of course you want to see and do as much as you can, but a realistic schedule will leave you feeling much less stressed out and a lot more rested.
